Fantastic hands-on tech leadership opportunity to join a Greenfield product build, start-up venture with the new technical team co-located in Galway. This is a lead role, so you will have key responsibility and autonomy to make a significant difference and advance your career with a relatively unique experience to build a new tech platform from scratch.

As Staff DevOps Engineering Leader, you will be the expert in Cloud DevOps and IaC, industry practices. You will play a lead role in designing, implementing, and managing all infrastructure and deployment processes This role requires expertise in Azure and Terraform whilst leading a team of DevOps engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams, to drive the green field platform build and continuous improvement in our DevOps practices.

What you will do:

Lead DevOps practices and team to create a highly robust and scalable tech platform. The focus will be on Azure cloud build.
Strong expertise in designing and implementing infrastructure on Azure, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and security.
In-depth knowledge of CI/CD concepts and experience implementing pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab.
Utilise Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and automation. Containerization based platform using technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
Knowledge of security best practices for cloud environments and experience implementing security control
Attract, develop, and retain talent, building skills in new technologies and best practices across DevOps practices.

Who you are:

- Excellent solution-led tech leadership skills. Bring your personality to your team comms and be able to inspire and build a new team to solve complex technical problems.
- Proven experience as a Lead DevOps Engineer or similar role for several years, with a focus on Azure and Terraform.
- Acumen in tech and people leadership and a passion for team development.
- At least 10 years’ experience in software development with at least 5 years in a DevOps role.
- Track record delivering DevOps IaC platforms, incorporating industry-leading containerisation, security, and CI/CD practices.

What skills you will need to bring

- Strong Proficiency in Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and automation.
- In-depth knowledge of CI/CD concepts and experience implementing pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab.
- Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation and tooling.
- Real team player and can build strong relationships at all levels. Like to have fun at work and a positive mentality with the ability to build trust and respect from team members.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Azure Monitor, Application Insights, or ELK stack.
