Senior Software Engineer – Edge Compute & Computer Vision

Location: Galway | Hybrid – minimum 3 days per week onsite

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong C++ and computer vision experience to join the team developing next-generation AI-enabled technology for high-volume  environments.

This is a hands-on senior engineering role, working across real-time C++, computer vision, edge computing, cameras, GPUs and production AI systems.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop high-performance C++ software for real-time edge-compute environments
  • Design and improve computer vision systems, including multi-camera calibration, synchronisation and object tracking
  • Build and optimise real-time image-processing and inference pipelines
  • Work directly with cameras, GPUs, edge devices and associated hardware
  • Optimise systems for low latency, high throughput and efficient CPU/GPU utilisation
  • Take computer-vision and machine-learning capabilities from prototype/research through to reliable production
  • Profile and troubleshoot performance across software, hardware, GPU, memory and networking
  • Develop automated unit, integration, performance and hardware-in-the-loop testing
  • Contribute to architecture, technical design, code reviews and engineering standards
  • Help improve development through automation, AI-assisted engineering, testing, profiling and tooling
  • Mentor other engineers and provide technical direction on complex problems

What we're looking for

  • Strong commercial experience developing production C++ software
  • Significant experience in computer vision, robotics, embedded software, edge computing or a closely related area
  • Strong understanding of multi-camera geometry, calibration and synchronisation
  • Experience with multi-object tracking or temporal-association systems
  • Strong mathematical foundations in linear algebra, geometry, optimisation and probabilistic estimation
  • Experience with real-time image processing or inference pipelines
  • Strong knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, memory management and performance optimisation
  • Experience optimising software for CPU and GPU execution
  • Strong debugging and profiling skills
  • Experience taking technically complex work from design through implementation, testing and production
  • Experience with automated testing and CI/CD
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted engineering tools

Desirable

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:

  • OpenCV
  • CUDA / TensorRT
  • NVIDIA edge-compute platforms
  • Eigen, Ceres or similar numerical libraries
  • Embedded or edge AI deployment
  • Camera drivers or video pipelines
  • Model optimisation or quantisation
  • Robotics, autonomous systems or industrial vision
  • Production telemetry and model monitoring

The role

This is an opportunity to work on real-world computer vision and edge AI, rather than purely research-based systems. You'll have ownership of technically challenging areas spanning algorithms, C++, cameras, GPUs and edge hardware.

You'll work closely with software engineers, data scientists, QA, product and deployment teams, with the opportunity to influence both the technology and engineering practices as the platform continues to evolve.

Location: Galway, Ireland
Working pattern: Hybrid, normally at least 3 days per week in the Galway office
Right to work: Candidates must be based in Ireland and have, or be able to obtain, the right to work in Ireland.
