This rapidly growing Irish startup is establishing an R&D centre in Galway and require a leader to become their Vice President of Software Development.

 

This is a unique opportunity to join a high growth startup in an expanding technology space.  Their aim is to become the number one SaaS provider in their niche market.

 

Job description

You will join a highly motivated team with a fantastic product developed with a cutting edge tech stack. You will become a key leader who will round out the core engineering team. 

As the company is still an expanding start-up, this will be very much a hands on role where you will work hand in hand with the product and engineering teams to define and deliver the product road map.

 Responsibilities:

The role will involve growing and developing a team but initially there will be a lot of engineering stuff to get sorted, so this role will not suit someone who has moved away from coding and architecture.

  • Work with lead engineers to conduct high-level technical reviews of new feature/product proposals.
  • Contribute to the architecture review process. Identify key areas for discussion and continually evaluate the engineering function to ensure effective running of the process.
  • Ensure an end-to-end product delivery infrastructure is in place, supporting product development, project tracking, source code control and integrity of releases, QA and test infrastructures including but not limited to continuous deployment.
  • Escalate technical debt and ensure sufficient bandwidth is allocated to ensure long term stability and scalability of the platform
  • Develop KPIs to track roadmap progress and value to customers
  • Ensure good communications with the Product team to ensure an agile process around feature specification and definition.
  • Be responsible for information security implications of all engineering activities

 

What's demonstrated on your CV?

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other relevant discipline.
  • At least 10 years’ experience leading teams with full life cycle responsibility, ideally in a software product company / SaaS
  • Ability to drive change and increase performance & quality
  • Drive continuous improvement
  • Track record working in various development environments
  • Experience in taking a monolith to microservices architecture
  • Knowledge of languages PHP, Golang/Go etc.
  • Managing geographically dispersed teams
  • Knowledge of Payment gateways and integration with payment processors
  • Ability to nurture and develop a growing engineering team
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Proven experience developing innovative solutions to complex technology challenges
