This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on data engineering leader who enjoys shaping data strategy, mentoring teams, and delivering robust, scalable data solutions in a regulated environment.
As Lead Data Engineer, you’ll take ownership of the design, development, and optimisation of enterprise data platforms. Work closely with business stakeholders, analysts, and fellow engineers to ensure data solutions support strategic and operational objectives. Play a key leadership role—guiding best practices, mentoring engineers, and driving innovation across the data estate.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and mentor data engineers and data modelers

Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver data-driven solutions

Define and implement data engineering best practices for scalability and resilience

Design and maintain production-grade data ingestion and processing pipelines

Build solutions using Azure Data Factory, Dataflow Gen2, and Microsoft Fabric

Architect and manage data lakehouses using Data Vault 2.0 and Medallion architectures

Develop semantic models and reports using Power BI

Act as a data steward, ensuring data quality, governance, and compliance

Own production support processes, ensuring reliability and responsiveness
Skills & Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Proven experience leading or mentoring data engineers

Strong hands-on experience with Azure (ADF, ADLS, Azure SQL, Databricks)

Advanced SQL skills and experience with modern data platforms

Proficiency in Python and/or Scala

Strong problem-solving skills within agile delivery environments

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
