We are looking for an experienced Principal / Lead Engineer to provide technical direction and guidance to an established software engineering team.

 You will act as the technical point of contact for the team, helping engineers solve complex problems, making key technical decisions and ensuring solutions are scalable, secure and maintainable.

You’ll work closely with Product, UX and Engineering colleagues, helping translate requirements into effective technical solutions and supporting the team throughout the development lifecycle.

What You'll Do

  • Provide technical leadership and direction across the development team.
  • Act as the go-to person for complex technical issues, helping engineers troubleshoot and find effective solutions.
  • Mentor and guide engineers, helping develop technical capability and engineering best practice.
  • Contribute to architecture and design decisions for scalable, secure cloud-based SaaS applications.
  • Review code and technical approaches, maintaining high engineering standards.
  • Work closely with Product Managers and stakeholders to understand requirements and shape technical solutions.
  • Break down complex technical problems and guide the team towards practical solutions.
  • Help remove technical blockers and support successful delivery.
  • Promote best practices across development, testing, CI/CD and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure consistency across the wider platform.
  • Remain hands-on and contribute technically where required.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong software development experience, ideally as a Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, Principal Engineer, Technical Lead or similar.
  • Strong experience with .NET and React. React Native would be advantageous.
  • Strong experience working with Azure and AWS.
  • Experience developing and supporting cloud-based SaaS applications.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns and modern engineering practices.
  • Experience mentoring or technically guiding other engineers.
  • A proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems and make sound technical decisions.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Product and business stakeholders.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • A hands-on approach and genuine interest in technology.

Hybrid role with 2 days per week in the Galway office
